SPAM Bouncer is marking legitimate emails as spam. What can I do?

This article explains how to reconfigure SPAM Bouncer in the event that the application is marking legitimate emails as spam.

This article applies to Shared Hosting, Reseller accounts and Dedicated Servers.



If you find that SPAM Bouncer is on occasions tagging legitimate email as spam, there are a number of steps you can take to remedy this. All actions should be taken from the configuration page for your SPAM Bouncer installation.

Tolerance Settings

You may adjust the 'Tolerance' level to control how strictly SPAM Bouncer will treat email sent to your Inbox. The less tolerant you set SPAM Bouncer, the larger the amount of spam mail intercepted, but the greater the risk of incorrectly identifying legitimate email as spam. A moderate setting is appropriate for the majority of users. Click the 'Save Settings' button to implement any changes.

Allow & Block Lists

Allow Lists and Block Lists can be quickly and easily set up.

An allow list defines email addresses or domain names from which you will always allow mail to be delivered normally, regardless of content. Should SPAM Bouncer incorrectly reject a legitimate email from a particular address or domain name, you should list it here.


A block list defines email addresses or domain names from which you wish to automatically reject email, regardless of content. Should SPAM Bouncer fail to intercept a spam email from a particular address or domain name, you may wish to list it here.


Click Save Settings to implement any changes.

Tip: During the first month or so of using SPAM Bouncer to filter your emails, you may wish to create a mailbox and configure SPAM Bouncer to direct any messages it considers to be spam to that box. You can then periodically review it to ensure you are not missing legitimate emails and once you are happy with your settings, have SPAM Bouncer reject spam emails completely.
